I am a blue collar single mom who doesn't have a whole lot of time to dedicate to blogging, but I enjoy writing, and taking pictures. I am an American by birth, a Christian by God's grace.

Keeping up

I'm trying out something new; a template I saw on a friend's blog...(hoping she won't mind if I borrow it)...I thought it was a great idea to keep up a little better on the blog without struggling over thoughts and ideas to write. I started this blog as a means to write my feelings down in a journalistic way. I decided to make it public on the chance that something I say might help someone else along the way. I enjoy it, but rarely find the time for it.  That being said...

In my life this week…
I have been overwhelmed with not only physical things that need done (and at this point many are left undone) like laundry, dishes, housekeeping; while also being a bit overwhelmed with what is happening around me, in the lives of both family and friends.

In our homeschool this week…
Little Man is doing well, gets his work done quickly, and is keeping his grades at a consistent A-B average,  although I have to practically pry his grubby little fingers off the XBOX controller on most days! He's on a marathon today, which I've allowed due to some pressing matters I needed to take care of and didn't want him to feel ignored, so I've let him play at will. Only for today I told him. Uh-huh he says. We'll see, he's thinking!

Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…
Scholaric.com! My friend turned me on to this scheduling website - it cuts the work in half (at least) for me.  Also I am trying not to be so rigorous and am trying to be a little more lenient with our daily structure.

I am inspired by…
Friends. I have friends who have faced such adversity and yet not only maintain a positive testimony, they are so full of faith!

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…Not a whole lot of going and seeing going on at the moment....we did meet up with some good friends last weekend and took the kids ice skating, then hit up a local burger joint afterwards, which was really fun for me - don't get to do that often....Little Man just finished his JYBL tournament, and is now playing basketball in a different league, called Upwards. This is a faith-based program sponsored by a local Baptist Church - they focus on the kids having fun instead of it being quite so competitive.  Little Man really likes it, and between that and church, that's pretty much where I go! Although I do manage to sneak in an occasional visit with a friend here and there!

My favorite thing this week was…Going to church Sunday, and going with a friend to visit some kind folks out in the country who needed some help. It felt good to be able to help someone.

What’s working/not working for us…
Every day is different, but I'm blessed with a great job, good friends, and a terrific kid!  Through all the trials and tests, God is good! Although I do struggle with motivation right now to do housework of any sort! Just can't get my giddyup going! (Of course, working 40 hours plus mandatory overtime plus being a homeschool basketball mom might have something to do with my lack of motivation for housework!)

Questions/thoughts I have…
Sometimes I wonder what God really thinks about the stuff going on down here...Does he think certain situations are as bad and extreme as we (I) do, or do we(I) get way over-excited and troubled for nothing? After all, He knows the end from the beginning, and NOTHING takes Him by surprise!

I’m reading…
Other than my "Bible in a year" plan I got from the internet which I do daily, I am off and on reading a sermon by Bro.Branham, Foxes Book of Martyrs (Wow, that's a hard read!) and John Grisham's latest book, "The Litigators." Not his best, but still, it's John Grisham.

I’m cooking…I made this awesome pork chop recipe tonight! It was a mix from Kraft, I think it had garlic and rosemary, and bread crumbs, and fresh parmesean (sp?) cheese, you mix all that together, and dip the chops in egg mixture, then the cheese/bread crumb mixture and then bake. Oh my, it was SO GOOD!

I’m grateful for…
The grace of God. He sought me and He bought me, with His redeeming Love. Then He sent a Prophet my way to point me the way back to Him.

I’m praying for…
The will of God. More to the point, to BE in the perfect Will of God, and to have perfect Love!

A photo, video, link, or quote to share…
This was Bub on his final game in JYBL this year. I just love this shot for some reason...he loves the game so much...he practices all the time, plays it on XBOX, watches the games, listens to the commentators...he assures me by the time he's twenty, he'll be sidling up next to Lebron James!

Ciao!
