All things new. This is a song by one of my favorite Christian artists. One of those songs that play out in your mind long after the song has ended. Like days after the song has ended....With that in mind, I did a big girl thing today and deleted some old emails from days gone by. Relationships gone by. It's something I have thought about for a while, off and on, but when it came time to actually do it, I chickened out. Something about holding on to those old memories; both nostalgic and bittersweet...
But something happened to me last year....something inside me changed. My spiritual diet changed, and things and people I used to associate with no longer held my interest. Some things had to be torn from my grasp; other things I was able to let go of without much difficulty. For some reason, those emails were something I was not able to let go of so easy, but my resistance has been slowly giving way, and just this morning I realized I was ready to let go. So I took the plunge and hit the delete key several times, and you know what? I feel liberated! I feel like I have finally moved on from all echoes of my past, and I am only looking forward to the future Christ has in store for me.
God makes all things new, and He has made something new in me, and the things of yesterday are not the things of today, nor will they ever be in my future again. I have reached the point of no return, where He makes all things new.
Oh what a feeling!
