A week in the life of....

In my life this (past) week…
I said goodbye to a dear old friend, who passed beyond the Curtain of Time. His life touched so many, and many are going to miss him greatly. His were very big shoes to fill.  I am happy for him - for the joy unspeakable he is experiencing now...but I am sad for the loved ones he has left behind...they are grieving and I grieve with them.

In our homeschool this week…
We are on summer break, but I did spend some time perusing the 'net trying to decide what curriculum to use next year.  I found some options, but haven't decided which one for sure.

Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…
Don't wait til the last minute to decide!

I am inspired by…
My friend that went Home this week....he was selfless, giving, loving, kind, faithful, strong, Godly,hard-working, smart, funny....the list goes on....his life was an inspiration to me.

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing...
We went to my dad's last week and spent his birthday weekend with him.  We had a good time, but it's tempered with a little bit of melancholy over how he is digressing....he's had some memory loss, and some symptoms of a possible stroke, and they did an MRI of his brain and now he has to see a neurologist.  It's hard to see my parents getting older...

My favorite thing this week was…
Speaking of older.....yesterday was my mom's 79th birthday....I had a small dinner party in her honor, with a few of her closest friends, and afterwards we played games until almost midnite....Mom had a blast, and felt special, which of course was the ultimate goal.  Mission accomplished!!

What’s working/not working for us…
I am overwhelmed by all the housework that needs done, that I can't seem to find the time to do! Not to mention, I have continuing education for my job that I have to do....it seems like all I find time to do is the bare minimum....I have friends I want to fellowship with, that I can't seem to settle down long enough to make a date....it's unsettling and overwhelming...

Questions/thoughts I have…
So many....I have been praying about some very serious issues in my life - decisions I need to make, and I have only the Lord to lean upon and guide me...

I’m reading…
Getting ready to read a book by Glenn Beck, something about a sweater I think....my step-mum read it and liked it, so I am going to try it.

I’m cooking…
I made Taco Cupcakes this week for the first time, a recipe I found on Pinterest, that I tweaked a little.   I took Phyllo dough and lined cupcake tins, filled with queso, meat, black beans and more cheese, baked, and the "frosting" was sour cream/salsa.   They were pretty good actually, although I think I can tweak them a little more to suit my taste.

I’m grateful for…
My job, that I love. The opportunity to work from home. Being able to homeschool my son. I  feel very blessed!

I’m praying for...
So many things.... Dear friends, out of fellowship with the Lord; friends that are grieving over the loss of a loved one,  my son and I to draw closer to the Lord, healing for my mom's back and knees, direction and guidance on what to do in  personal dilemmas....so many things...

Things I love...
Riding on the back of a motorcycle with a good friend, down a country road, feeling the cool pockets of air while riding in the hazy sunshine, smelling the fresh cut grass and hay, watching the sunset on the hillsides, stopping at the local Dairy Freeze for ice cream, fighting the bugs flying around the neon lights, laughing at nothing and anything....these are days gone by - memories that I wonder if I'll ever re-create again...my friend is not in the best of health, and I think our motorcycle riding days are over.  I miss it. Alot.  People laugh and tease me and call me a "motorcycle mama", but that's not it at all. I don't have any desire to wear leather chaps and a leather vest with a skull and crossbones on it, with a bandanna around my neck, chuggin' with the best of them.  I just like to simply ride on a motorcycle....with my helmet of course....I love the openness, the smells you capture, the wind, the freedom you feel....it's just a different kind of fun...a little scary sometimes, but that's part of the thrill I suppose...

Dinner date didn't work out. Or rather babysitter didn't work.
It will be a future date though. Fellowship is so fulfilling:)
