The accidental chef.....

She's at it again....

Tonight, two days before payday, I didn't really have the money to do any major grocery shopping, so I decided to make due with what I had on hand. I came up with a sort of Mexican chili mac, I'll call it. It was awesome. Better than I had expected. There is no recipe, because I just put stuff in, but I tell ya, it was yummy for my tummy!

I took a pound of hamburger and fried it up in a skillet with some salt and pepper. When it was cooked thru, I added a packet of taco seasoning, and a cup of water, more or less. Meanwhile I put a pot of macaroni's on to boil.
To the meat, I added 3/4 cup of taco salsa, and 1/2 small can of green chiles. Then I added about 1/2 cup of swiss cheese and 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese, shredded, and stirred, and let cheese melt into the meat.
When the macaroni's were done (probably any kind of pasta shell would do) I added them to the meat mixture, stirred thoroughly, and topped with a little more shredded cheddar cheese.

It was very good, had just the slightest hint of a kick with the green chiles and the salsa....it almost reminded me of a Mexican goulash - hey yeah! That's what I'll call it - Mexican goulash! (Now I'll have to go see if there's already a recipe out there by that name. I might be stealing someone else's thunder! Ha!)

(Btw, little Man liked it except for the green chiles....he has an aversion to eating anything green!)
